About Domótica Medellín

Domótica Medellín sets up home automation in houses and apartments across Medellín, Envigado, Sabaneta, Itagüí, Bello and Rionegro: lights, locks, air conditioning, blinds, cameras and the home network.

We use open equipment like Zigbee, Matter and Home Assistant that runs inside the house. If the internet goes down, the lights and the door lock still respond. If you switch brands later, you keep what's already installed.

Who's behind it

I'm Ryan Cwynar, an American software engineer living in Medellín. I started with my own house, including a basic door lock I wired up myself so I wouldn't depend on the manufacturer's app. Domótica Medellín grew out of fixing the problems most homes here share: EPM power cuts, electric showers that never get hot enough, and doors that need to open even when the internet is out.

How we work

  • Design, installation and support, in Spanish or English.
  • We start by looking at what the house already has and what can stay.
  • We pick equipment you control locally, so you're not tied to one app.

For press

If you cover tech, housing or Medellín's power cuts, I'm happy to show you a working house and walk through how it's set up.
